GROW1 Inline KDF-85 Garden Water Filter – Chloramine, Chlorine, Heavy Metal Removal
The Grow1 Inline Garden Water Filter features a high-flow inline design utilizing advanced KDF-85 filtration media to help reduce chlorine, chloramines, hydrogen sulfide, and certain water-soluble heavy metals from water supplies. KDF-85 media is commonly used in water treatment applications for reduction of iron and sulfur-related compounds while helping support the performance and longevity of filtration systems. Like KDF-55 media, KDF-85 uses an oxidation/reduction (redox) process to help reduce contaminants commonly found in water, including chlorine, chloramines, hydrogen sulfide, iron, and heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, aluminum, mercury, and cadmium. Grow1 Water Filters may be used independently or as a pre-filter to help protect existing water filtration and purification systems. Included with each filter is a flexible hose protector that allows the hose to bend at sharp angles while maintaining consistent water flow.
What is KDF?
Kinetic Degradation Fluxion (KDF) is a high-puritycopper-zinc filtration media used in a wide range of water treatmentapplications. KDF media utilizes a redox (oxidation/reduction) processthat helps reduce chlorine, chloramines, iron, hydrogen sulfide, andcertain heavy metals from water supplies. KDF media is commonly used inpretreatment, primary treatment, and wastewater applications and mayhelp extend the service life of filtration systems while reducingmaintenance requirements.
How Does KDF Work?
The KDF redox processworks through an exchange of electrons with contaminants in the watersupply. This oxidation/reduction process converts certain contaminantsinto less reactive or less harmful components. During this process, somecontaminants are electrochemically bonded to the KDF media while othersare transformed into different compounds, such as chlorine beingconverted into chloride.
